Non-denominational: The churches of Christ have always been non-denominational; that is, we answer to no national or worldwide organization. Each congregation across the globe seeks to follow the Bible as their rule and guide. The words elders/mature, shepherds/pastors, and overseers/bishops describe the men of the congregation that have been selected by the members to lead the local church. There is no official name given for the church in the New Testament; however, the phrase church of Christ (taken from Romans 16:16) is commonly used as a matter of convenience because it allows us to recognize others when we travel to different locations.
