Perspective (how we view things) is the key to the things we do in life. The way we react to events in our lives is dependent on our perspective. If we view someone as rude and annoying, then when they ask us to do something, we may respond by ignoring them or even telling them to shove off and do it themselves. On the other hand, if we see them as polite and caring, we may respond more gently or even agree to help them. Sometimes our perspective gets in the way of our relationship with God. We are raised to see things in a certain way and this can cause us to act strangely toward God and our relationship with him.
In 2 Corinthians 5:15-16, we find the apostle Paul telling us to change our perspective: “So from now on, we regard no one from a worldly point of view.” But why? Because Christ gave us a different view. Paul tells us in verse 15 that Christ died for all, not just the good looking people, or the beggars, or the rich, or the rude, or the nice. No, Paul tells us, “… he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died for them.” Christ died for everyone, therefore, we need to change our perspective and start viewing people through the eyes of Jesus, not the eyes of the world.
