Teen Talk
Last Monday, at our Monday
night Bible study, we experienced The Passover. It was a very different and
interesting lesson to learn about. We tried some really unusual
recipes like fresh parsley dipped into salt water, a little nibble of
horseradish, grape juice mixed with apples, plain grape juice and unsalted
crackers. I really enjoyed the speaker and the lesson.
You say that Christmas is a time for joy, happiness and silent nights. Well, not in my family. It is more like loud, noisy, screaming and yelling nights. My nina, mom, dad, tia, and my mema are in and out of the kitchen, up and down on their chairs, cooking what Mexicans cook best at Christmas: TAMALES!! I, of course, am in and out helping them, wired like I always am. We wait until 10:30 to open our presents. When that time comes, you see us throwing wrapping paper on the floor and acting like two crazy, silly little girls jumping up and down and saying Hurray!! That is kinda what happens in my house for Christmas.
When we knew that we were going to go to the Rescue Mission, we were all anxious because the day was coming soon. When the day finally came, I was super anxious and no one knew what we were going to do. I knew a little bit because I had helped there before. When everyone arrived we asked ourselves, "What do we do now?" Andrew had already told us a little about what we were going to do. Then the people came in and we waited on them, giving them food and water. I had fun and I think everyone did. What I liked the most was that we all worked together like a family. We helped one another. When we finished serving we cleaned up the cafeteria and then we cooked a little. I hope this happens again. I hope that we can do this again!!
